Erin is a Master Stylist and a passionate Curly Hair Artist at Cala Renee Salon. With a career that began at the salon at just 16 years old, Erin has developed an extensive skill set in both curly hair cutting and color, earning her a reputation for delivering exceptional results.

Erin is certified in Curlaboration Deva Level 2, and has honed her craft with additional certifications, including Master Certification in cutting and product knowledge with Aquage, Foil Works with All Nutrient Color, Advanced Color Certification with Coastline, and Innersense Tight Taper Cuts. Over the years, Erin has continuously sought advanced education to stay on top of the latest trends and techniques in the curly hair and color industry.

Cala and her staff have earned recognition as Curly Hair Specialists on platforms such as DevaCurl, Google, and Yelp,

with clients praising their attention to detail and expertise in curly hair care.

At Cala Renee Salon, the education never stops.

Cala encourages her team to attend professional classes and she hosts in-salon training to stay at the forefront of curly hair cutting and coloring techniques.

Johanna is our talented cosmetologist in training, and you’ll find her at the shampoo sinks ready to pamper you. From relaxing scalp massages to expert curl care tips, she is here to make your experience unforgettable. Watch for her to come to the floor as a Rising Stylist in 2027

Johanna joined the team at Cala Renee Salon in November of 2025, and she graduated from the Cosmetology program at North Shore Community College in May of 2026. Her background in hotel hospitality has helped her gain great customer service skills. She switched career paths after giving birth to her son in 2023. Having him sparked an interest to learn more about natural hair care for coily and curly hair--she wants to specialize in this field in order to help others embrace their natural hair while educating clients on proper care in and out of the salon.

Johanna speaks Spanish fluently, her favorite color is purple and she has a black cat named Jasper. Outside of work she enjoys listening to music, spending time with her family, and any adventures that include a nice view. She is excited to take on this new journey and can’t wait to start building relationships with you all!

Kait is our Guest Support Coordinator and the friendly face you’ll find at the front desk Tuesday through Friday. As a mom of three, she knows how to keep things moving and make miracles happen!

Kait works behind the scenes to coordinate appointments, help guests find the right stylist, and keep our busy salon running smoothly. She is a key part of creating a welcoming and organized experience for every guest who walks through our doors.

Steph is a dedicated Curly Hair Specialist with years of hands-on experience helping clients embrace and care for their natural texture. A graduate of North Shore Technical High School and Salem State College (B.S. in Psychology), Steph’s journey in the beauty industry began at age 16, and she has been passionately growing her skills ever since.

Steph is trained in the Curl by Curl cutting method developed by Lorraine Massey, a foundational technique for enhancing and defining natural curls. She is Deva Curlaboration Level 2 certified and has received advanced cutting instruction from industry educator Ellan McDowell. Steph also completed the Innersense Tight Taper Curl Training, allowing her to deliver precise, tailored cuts for all curl types. In addition to her curl-focused training, Steph is highly skilled in color services. She holds an Advanced Color Certification through Coastline and is trained in the Joico Color Line.

With a commitment to continued education and a client-first approach, Steph provides thoughtful, customized hair care designed to bring out the best in every curl.

With 38 years of experience, Cala Renee is a renowned curly hair expert and Master Colorist, dedicated to helping clients embrace their natural curls with precision, skill, and personalized care. As the owner of Cala Renee Salon in Beverly, MA, Cala has earned a stellar reputation as one of the area's top curly hair specialists, offering everything from custom curly cuts to advanced color techniques and curly hair care since 1989.

Cala's passion for curly hair began in 1987, after graduating from Blaine Hair School. Eager to expand her knowledge, she pursued advanced color training with Clairol Colorworks and worked with Shirley Sarpi, a Clairol Color Platform Artist. After gaining experience in Topsfield, Cala opened her own salon in Beverly in 1989. She was one of the first stylists in the U.S. to train in Curl by Curl, a cutting-edge technique developed by Lorraine Massey, and continues to be a leader in the curly hair community.

In addition to the Curl by Curl Certification, Cala holds a Level 3 Master Stylist Certification from DevaCurl, and her salon is also proud to offer the Cut it Kinky method, ensuring that every texture receives the expert care it deserves.
